Pathfinder: Mythology

In this pathfinder you will find print resources and electronic resources, all available in or through the Cambridge Central School High School Library’s website.

 General Information:

The best way to begin your search is to determine which key words will point to the specific information you need.  Using specific terms while searching results in better, faster, and more concise information retrieval.   Use some of the key words listed below when searching the online catalog, the Internet, or the subscription databases:

•  Mythology Greek legends; Greek mythology

• If possible give the specific legend: Oedipus Rex, Agamemnon, etc.

• Greek Gods and Goddess-

•  If possible give the specific name: Poseidon, Aphrodite, Zeus, Apollo, Ares, etc.

•  Greek heroes

• If possible, give the specific name: Odysseus, Helena, Jason, Theseus etc.

• Greek mythological creatures

• f possible, give the specific name: Cyclops, Pegasus, Minotaur

• Specific events or key ideas: Trojan Horse, Achilles’ heel

 Print Resources:

When using the CCS Library's online catalog you can do effective general keyword searching, but for a more precise search do a subject keyword search.  Remember to use some of the above terms.

• Most of the books on mythology will be found under the Dewey number 292.
