Cambridge CSD offers summer programming for students who require additional academic support, a remedial course or would like to participate in learning opportunities.
Extended School Year (ESY) Program
The Cambridge Central School District’s Extended School Year (ESY) Program serves school-age students with disabilities who need a 12-month structured learning environment to prevent significant regression. The ESY program serves school-age students in classes consistent with Part 200 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education. Students who do not need a full-day summer program may receive appropriate related services only as recommended by their local school district’s Committee on Special Education. Transportation is provided to students with disabilities recommended for the ESY program. Breakfast and lunch are provided daily.

Elementary Summer Reading & Math
Summer Reading & Math is a program that allows elementary students to stay engaged and maintain the programming that they learned throughout the school year. The program reinforces the reading and mathematics concepts that students have learned and helps students stay on track when they return to school in September.
2026 Information
The Elementary Summer Reading & Math program will not run in summer 2026 due to the contingency budget.

Summer School
In the event that students retake a course due to a failing grade, the final grade obtained during summer school appears on their transcript. Should a student choose to retake a regents exam, the higher grade will be recorded on the student’s permanent record.
