English 12 Summer Reading
Hi all,
Can you believe that you are seniors??!! The last year of lockers, bells telling you when to arrive and leave, and being forced to run a mile, but probably not your last year of having a summer reading assignment (depending on where your path is taking you after next year). BUT, it will be your last summer reading assignment here at CCS-Don’t cry :(
This year, Mrs. Andrew, Mrs, Brooking, and Ms. Salisbury are all teaching sections of English 12. We will have a similar curriculum and are going to try to do some collaborative activities as well. Below are your two choices for summer reading as well as a supply list for next year. ALL English 12 students will have the SAME summer reading assignment, so it does not matter which teacher you have or if you have to switch your schedules at the beginning of the year, etc. It will be due the first week of school regardless!!!!
Your task choices: Choose only 1 option!
- Choose 1 book from any genre, that is at an 11th-12th grade reading level.
- Discuss:
- What made this book enjoyable to read?
- What audience do you believe would prefer to read this story?
- What is something that you would want to share with someone about the book?
- Choose one literary element that was prevalent while reading the story and explain its importance (NOT PLOT).
OR
- Choose 1 book that you have read in grades 7-11 and reread it!
- Discuss:
- What made this book enjoyable to read?
- What audience do you believe would prefer to read this story?
- What is something that you would want to share with someone about the book?
- Choose one literary element that was prevalent while reading the story and explain its importance (NOT PLOT). PLUS….
- Why you chose to reread this book.?
- What you learned from the 2nd reading of the book that you might not have understood the first time?
You will be creating a product/presentation for your book choice the first week of the school year. Please bring the book with you during the first week as well.
