    Dear Cambridge Families,

    School Closure

We have just learned that Governor Cuomo announced in his daily press briefing that all schools in NYS will remain closed for the 2019-20 school year. While this is not the outcome we hoped for, it does alleviate a certain amount of stress that comes with uncertainty. Remote learning will continue as we stay home to stop the spread of COVID-19. During the remainder of the school year, the district will continue to provide meals to our families and the that so many families have come to rely on during this time of need.

We again hope that all of you are doing well during these times.  We wanted to take a moment to help make you aware of some important community service activities occurring in the region coming up soon.

    Community Resources

First, there will be a CAMBRIDGE FREE MASK GIVEAWAY SATURDAY MAY 2 FROM 10-12 AT CAMBRIDGE CENTRAL SCHOOL.

The Village of Cambridge, Town of White Creek, Town of Cambridge, Town of Jackson in cooperation with the Cambridge Valley Chamber of Commerce, Cambridge Central school, and Washington County Department of Public Safety and Public Health Department, will be giving away free cloth face coverings from 10 to 12 on Saturday, May 2 at the Cambridge Central school.

The county received a supply of cloth face coverings from the US Department of Health and Human Services through New York State. The coverings are washable T-shirt type material, manufactured by Hanes Brands, made of 100% cotton, in individually wrapped packages of five.

Also, next Thursday, May 7, the Salvation Army will be hosting a Drive-thru food pantry at the Washington County Fair Grounds starting at 11 AM.  They will provide the box as cars drive through and have their boxes filled with meat, produce, cheese, milk, canned goods and more.  This will occur as long as supplies last.

    Budget

As a reminder, the state has postponed the annual school budget vote and Board of Education election (originally scheduled for May 19) until at least June 1, 2020. We are awaiting guidance on the timing, location, and manner for such elections. We will let you know as soon as we have more information.

Thank you for your support, patience, cooperation, and partnership throughout this time.

Please stay home, stay safe, and be kind.
