This course examines the progression of technology from the primitive time of the Stone Age to the present Digital Age, covering a history of invention and innovations. Students will study computer history and incorporate modern computer use with Google Drive, working with documents, spreadsheets, presentations, forms, and drawings. The students will explore designing, blueprints, communication technologies, manufacturing, construction, architecture, energy, transportation, medical and future technology. This introductory course in technology education provides an overview of the curriculum and many hands-on projects.

Freshman Seminar – .5 Credit
In today’s fast-changing digital world, knowing how to use technology wisely is essential for success in school, work and life. This hands-on, year-long course empowers 9th graders to become confident, responsible and creative digital citizens.
Students will build practical tech skills for everyday life—like using keyboard shortcuts, managing passwords and organizing digital files—while also exploring important issues such as online safety, privacy and digital footprints. Through interactive projects, digital dilemmas and collaborative activities, students will learn how to:
- Find, evaluate and use information responsibly
- Recognize and avoid misinformation, fake news and media bias
- Communicate and collaborate effectively online
- Make ethical decisions in real-world digital situations
- Protect their privacy and manage their online identities
- Understand plagiarism, citation and information privacy
- Use Google tools, databases and other digital resources
- Practice safe and respectful behavior in group chats, gaming and social media
- Explore coding, game design and creative digital expression
- Discover digital-age careers and build a digital portfolio
By the end of the course, students will have the confidence and skills to navigate the digital world safely, ethically and creatively—ready for high school, college and beyond.
