    Thank you, voters! The project passed and construction is slated to begin in the summer of 2020.


    The Cambridge Central School Board of Education and Building Committee are asking residents of the district to consider a capital project to address needs in the areas of:

    • State Building Aid Aging Infrastructure
    • Health and Safety
    • Community Outreach

    Aging Infrastructure

    • Replace roofs
    • Replace boilers
    • Replace oil pumps

    Health and Safety

    • New fire alarm system and HVAC controls
    • Resurface running track and pave access road

    Community Outreach

    • Purchase emergency shelter generator
    • Resurface weight room and fitness center
    • Reconstruct tennis court
    • Build walkway and observation pier

    Approximate Cost to District Taxpayers Beginning in 2021:
    NYS Building Aid $1,891,609 (Over 15 year period)

    Proposed Project Cost:
    $9,934,674
    -$7,898,065 (Reduced by 79.5% State Aid)
    -$145,000 (Reduced by Debt Service Reserve)

    Taxpayer Impact
    For a home appraised at full value of $100,000:

    • with Senior Star: $17 per year ($1.42 a month)
    • with Star: $35 per year ($2.92 a month)
    • no Star: $50 per year ($4.17 a month)

    Why is it called project 2020?
    If approved, construction is slated to begin in the summer of 2020.

    Why is this project needed?
    Just like your home, our school facilities require attention and maintenance to keep them operating and efficient, while protecting our investment. As you already know, planned maintenance is less costly and disruptive than having to make emergency repairs. Under the capital project, the district is eligible to receive up to 79.5% reimbursement via state building aid, thus greatly reducing the balance to be covered via the tax levy.

    What is the project timetable?
    The vote will be held on March 27, 2018, and should it pass the project will be presented to the State Education Department (SED) approximately November 2018. The approval process can take one year. (SED has changed the procedure since our last project). Once approved by SED, construction would begin in the summer of 2020.

    Absentee Ballot Information
    District residents may apply for absentee ballots at the District Clerk’s Office at least seven (7) days before the election if you need the ballot mailed to you; OR before 4 p.m. on Monday, March 26 if you are going to deliver the ballot in person to the District Clerk.
