  • What is A.I.S?

A.I.S. stands for academic intervention services. Students receiving A.I.S. reading get supplemental instruction either within the classroom or in a small group in the reading room. Time is spent working on reading strategies such as phonics skills, letter, comprehension, fluency, and phonemic awareness. We also develop writing skills by practicing letter formation, developing ideas, and making sure stories make sense.

Students who are at risk or not meeting grade level reading expectations are recommended for A.I.S. by the classroom teacher based on daily performance as well as formal assessments.
