Your children are working very hard to improve their vocabulary base and understanding of reading. New York State has provided us with a rigorous curriculum that requires effort and involvement from us all - teachers, students, and parents.
Our focus this quarter has been on integrating language arts and social studies. We are learning a great deal about the traditional life of the Iroquois. This information is coupled with a firm understanding of main idea and supporting detail.
In mathematics our emphasis has been on multiplication strategies. The students have been shown several ways to manipulate factors to reach an accurate product. Please help your child with his or her math facts.
Chemistry is our current study in science. The children are enjoying the chemical reactions that occur when certain substances are added to powders and crystals!
