Graduation speaker Robert Kinnin gifts CCS a flag from 3 World Trade Center

On Friday, June 27, Robert Kinnin delivered an address to the Class of 2025 at their graduation ceremony. Following his speech, Kinnin presented CCS with a unique gift: a flag that had flown over 3 World Trade Center on June 26. This special presentation held personal significance for Kinnin, who recalled watching custodians raise and lower the flag during his school years.

Kinnin aspired to one day work for the federal government. Since 2016, he has worked for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). He recently accepted a job to be the next IT Branch Chief for FEMA’s Region 2 which includes NY state.

“We are deeply honored by the generous gift presented to our district by Mr. Kinnin,” said Caroline Goss, secondary principal. “This gesture carries profound personal and professional meaning for me—it was on September 11, 2001 that I began my career at CCS as a Spanish teacher. That day shaped my understanding of service, resilience and the importance of community more than any textbook ever could. This gift stands as a powerful symbol of those same values. On behalf of our students, staff and families, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for the enduring commitment to education and recovery it represents.”
