Autumn Headwell named as Commended Student

Cambridge Central School District Secondary Principal Caroline Goss announced that Cambridge senior, Autumn Headwell, has been named as a commended student in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. A letter of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) will be presented to Miss Headwell by Secondary Principal Goss at a later date.

Approximately 34,000 commended students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not advance in the 2019 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, students achieving commended status placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2019 competition by taking the 2017 preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

An NMSC spokesperson commented, “The young men and women named as commended students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success. These students represent a valuable national resource, and recognizing their accomplishments, in addition to the key role their schools play in their academic development is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
