Juniors Receive Scholarships

 

Several juniors earned scholarships which were presented to them at a recognition breakfast held at the school on Friday, June 7, 2019. Guidance Counselor Aydin O’Hearn and Secondary Principal Caroline Goss made the presentations.

The recipients are:

Eden Bailey
St. Mike’s Book Award
This award is presented by Saint Michael’s college and recognizes high achieving students who are members of the NHS, demonstrate a sustained and sincere commitment to community service, issues of peace, and justice and concern for others.

Sydney Benson
Student Sage Award
This award was created to recognize the characteristics of academic excellence and community involvement that have defined Sage students for over a century. This award focuses on students who have been role models and community leaders. This is to recognize those who make a difference.

Kasey Bissonette
Le Moyne College Heights Programs
Recognizes a student who is “Reaching for Heights” in the classroom and planning their future. 

Julia Boyne
Wells College Leadership Award
Wells is a liberal arts college in Aurora, NY, and presents this award to a student who consistently leads by positive example.

Jordan Brown
U Rochester - George Eastman Young Leaders Award
This award is presented to a student who has demonstrated commitment to understanding and addressing difficult social issues, shows leadership and dedication in and out of the classroom, and has high academic achievement

Girls’ State Sponsorship
Alice Roosevelt

Boys’ State and Girls’ State are week-long programs that immerses high school youth (currently completing their junior year) in citizenship and leadership training. They learn the practical aspects of government as it exists in New York State, and come to recognize that the individual is integral to the character and success of government. The opportunity is made possible through the sponsorship of American Legion Captain Maxson Post #634 and Ladies Auxiliary Unit #634.
