Advocating for in-person learning beginning in September
The state Department of Health recently adopted new COVID guidelines that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had put forth. However, there are parts of the guideline that will make it very challenging for a district like ours to fully reopen to in-person learning. We would not likely be able to accomplish this reopening goal unless the state makes some adjustments in its COVID guidelines for schools.
I was one of 92 superintendents from the Capital District and beyond to sign on to a letter to New York lawmakers. It was also sent to state and local departments of health. The letter that these protocols (obstacles) be adjusted or removed so we can fully reopen in the fall for all students.
