Whatever! from Cambridge Jr./Sr. High School, has been recognized as a Superior magazine by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE)!
Last year’s members of Whatever! include Jaron Barber, Gwen Lederer-Barnes, Addison Barton, Lilli Dearstyne, Gladys Dougherty, Isaak Koopmann, Ryan Maher, Quentin Schneider and Alex Weisburg. Kirsten O’Brien and Victoria Brooking, the co-advisors of the publication, are extremely proud of the dedicated students who have continued to produce a high standard school publication. “It’s incredible how a small school such as Cambridge Central continues to publish a magazine with quality art and inspiring writing. It’s a testament to the talent of our CCS student body.”
This year, schools in 44 states, Washington, D.C., and six countries nominated 456 student magazines. Magazines from middle school, high school and higher education were welcomed for the 2025 contest.
The REALM program publicly recognizes excellent literary magazines produced by students with the support of their teachers. REALM is designed to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines that celebrate the art and craft of writing. Schools in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, US territories, Canada and American schools abroad are eligible to nominate magazines.
