Proposal includes cuts to positions
Since July 1, the district has reduced the following positions:

  • High School Teachers (2)
  • Elementary Teachers (5)
  • High School Associate Principal (1)
  • Elementary Dean of Students (1)
  • K-12 Social Worker (1)
  • Teaching Assistants (3)
  • Educational Aides (3.5)
  • Bus Drivers (2)
  • Office Clerk (1)
  • Cafeteria Employees (1.5)

This totals 21 positions that were cut through attrition and staff layoffs this school year.

Under the 2026-27 contingency budget, the district also:

  • Can only provide one way transportation for all athletics practices
  • Eliminated equipment allocations and stipends for deans
  • Eliminated the bus purchases and the annual capital outlay project, which will negatively impact the district’s aid (revenue) for the 2027-28 school year
  • Froze the pay of all managerial confidential employees, as well as a voluntary pay freeze for the superintendent and business official
  • Accepted a voluntary pay freeze from the administrators association
  • Reduced the number of late buses
  • Implemented facility rental costs (by law) for all community groups and organizations
    • The Fitness Center will cost $500/person next year (we must have a minimum of 10 individuals sign up for it to run at all)
    • The Walking Program will cost $150/person next year

The district is also consolidating at least two bus runs. With three leased buses being returned and the inability to replace those buses, routes must be recalculated for students. As a result, it will jeopardize the district’s ability to pick up kids who live within one mile of the school. More information about the exact transportation impact will be provided over the summer as routes are recalculated and finalized.

The district will work throughout the summer to prepare for the 2026-27 school year and to maximize student opportunities as best it can despite the contingency budget.
