When people ask why I am running for the Cambridge Central School Board of Education it is not a simple answer. I don’t have one agenda item that I hope to achieve, my reasons are much more broad. It starts with the simple fact that CCS is the backbone of my family. My children are students and my husband is employed by CCS as a teacher, not to mention my mother worked as an elementary teacher at CCS for 32 years.
But to me, running for the BOE is not just about the school it’s about the community of Cambridge as well, this is our home, and in rural towns the community frequently revolves around the school. We need both the school and the community to be successful, we can’t have one without the other.
I believe to work toward this goal we need collaboration, communication, and transparency. Collaboration, communication and transparency are frequently used words by leaders of all types. To me, they are more than just words, they are actionable strategies that can be used to unite and build trust. If elected I hope to expand upon previously shared ideas with administration, teachers, and community members to make both the school and community as successful as they can be.

It is a privilege to serve on the school board. Many issues arise that warrant the attention of citizens who wish to see our school operate effectively and efficiently both financially and socially at the highest level. I see myself as one of those people. Our kids deserve this efficiency as do our taxpayers.

I am seeking a second term on the BOE because I want the children of this district to have access to the best education available, so they will be adequately prepared for adulthood and to be productive members of society.
